How do truck dispatchers make money?
Dispatchers charge carriers a percentage of the load rate for each load they book. The average dispatcher will charge 7-10% of the load rate. For example, if a dispatcher books a load for $1000 and they charge 10%, they will make $100 off the load. The average truck will make between $5000-$10000 a week depending on equipment type, which means as a dispatcher you can make between $500-$1000 a week per truck. Most dispatchers handle 3-5 trucks at a time.
